Vacancy: Senior Food Scientist

Will you write history with the development of your cheese from microbially obtained protein?

We are looking for a senior food scientist with a strong interest and experience in dairy (alternatives) and taking novel ingredients from applied research to commercialization. The successful candidate dares to take the lead in our technical challenges in product development, with a passion for food and sustainability.

 

Job description:

• Lead the development of dairy applications by process and formulation design, and by participating in the team brainstorm for future experimental strategies
• Evaluate the feasibility to scale our cheesemaking process, while keeping an eye on continuous improvement
• Assist the scale-up of dairy applications using our microbial casein; either internally, at CMOs or partner sites
• Generate and apply knowledge about the functionality and the characteristics of our microbial casein
• Process and document test results for clear communication within the team.
• Collaborate with colleagues from the application team, other departments (molecular biology, upstream and downstream processing) and external cheese experts
• Ensure food safe working practices and a clean working environment in the shared lab spaces
• Take care of your personal and team safety by following the correct procedures and policies
• Communicate with internal stakeholders through meetings and clearly written emails, reports and presentations

 

Your profile:

• Academic degree in Food Science and/or Technology, with min. 5 years of experience in a food R&D or production environment
• Practical knowhow in new product development of dairy (alternatives) and process optimization
• Willing to assist your team in quantitative and qualitative analysis of ingredients and food applications to support product development
• Strong knowledge of professional computer software for data processing via Microsoft Office. Knowledge of and/or experience with Design Of Experiments is considered a strong asset
• Able to work independently with a team player attitude
• Willing to travel abroad for work
• Flexible within a dynamic environment, ability to multi-task
• Communication and organizational skills (interpretation and documentation of data, report writing, planning).
